The lesson: prevention beats rework, every time

I've been in procurement for 15 years and I still needed a reminder that the first line on a quote isn't the cost of anything. The checklist I now use for any replacement pump:

  1. Get spare parts pricing upfront, in writing.
  2. Ask what commissioning support is actually included—not just advertised.

Five minutes of verification beats five days of correction. Or in this case, a $20,000 outage and six weeks of avoidable headaches.
